Welcome to the Grant County Museum Website.

Our beautiful museum is located in Sheridan, Arkansas. Sheridan is the county seat of Grant County. Sheridan is located about 30 miles south of Little Rock, the state’s largest city. The museum was established in 1965 and is an agency of the county government. Its purpose is to interpret and preserve the history of Grant County. This local history museum traces the county’s development from prehistoric to the present times. In addition, special gallery exhibits include the Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company Museum, an automobile room, a Civil War Red River Expedition room and the Richard Harrison collection of military vehicles. We offer one of the very best museums in the nation and we have more on display than most museums. Our World War II displays are some of the most beautiful and expansive, including one of the nation’s largest displays of military vehicles, compliments of Mr. Harrison. You can visit Tuesday through Saturday and stroll through our main facility, which is named in honor of Grant County native W. R. (Witt) Stephens. You can visit  Heritage Square, which offers a view of historic structures relating to the county’s history. General admission is free, but we encourage donations and if you are a part of a group you will be charged a small fee. Call in advance for details.
